What it shows

Three things, on one page

  1. 1

    Your top-3 count

At how many of the 81 points you appear in Google's top three for “plumber near me.” Green points are where a customer would see you first.

  2. 2

    Where the red is

The points where you're not in the top 3 — often the far side of your own service area, sometimes right next door.

  3. 3

    Who's showing up instead

The competitor appearing most where you're not, with their review count next to yours. It's frequently someone with fewer reviews than you.

How the scan is set up

The same settings every time, so maps can be compared

Consistency is the point. If we later run the same scan monthly, the before-and-after ties out because nothing about the method changed.

The scan reads the same results Google describes in its own guidance on how local results are ranked — relevance, distance, and prominence — from 81 places at once. It’s the first step of the local SEO system we run for Chicagoland plumbers.

Reading the map

Three patterns we see most often

Top 3 4–10 Below 10Illustrative — not a real business’s data

Mostly green

You're capturing calls across your area. The system is a weaker fit here — we'll tell you that. The work is defending the position and extending reach.

Top 3 4–10 Below 10Illustrative — not a real business’s data

Green only near the shop

Proximity is doing the work and nothing else is carrying you further. The best fit for the full system: profile, structure, then content.

Top 3 4–10 Below 10Illustrative — not a real business’s data

Yellow and red across the grid

Close to ranking, not there. Usually a profile and structure problem, and often the fastest to move once fixed.

Grids above are illustrations of patterns, not any business’s results. Legend: green = top 3, amber = 4–10, red = below 10.

Scorecard questions

What do I have to do?
Send your business name and city. We run the scan from your address as it appears on your Google Business Profile and send back the map. About 10 minutes of your time, most of it reading the result.
What does it cost?
Nothing. It's the first step of every conversation we have, and it's more useful to both of us than a sales pitch.
Is the map real data?
Yes — it's a live scan of Google's local results for “plumber near me” from each grid point, run through the same rank-tracking tool we use for clients. The maps on this page are illustrations; yours will be your actual results.
Is every grid point a real customer search?
No. Each point is a simulated search from that location — what a customer standing there would see. It doesn't count customers. We don't turn the map into a “missed calls” number, because that would be made up.
What happens after I get it?
Nothing, unless you want it to. If you'd like to talk through what's causing the red, book a 15-minute call and we'll walk the map with you.
